Cleveland Browns Stadium
This will be the seventh time that the Wildcats will pay a visit to Cleveland Browns Stadium, home to the National Football League’s Cleveland Browns. Saint Ignatius lost to Lake Catholic in 2010, 28-21; defeated Cardinal Mooney in 2012, 31-7; beat St. Edward in 2016, 34-7; defeated St. Edward in 2018, 21-7. In their previous trip to Browns Stadium the Wildcats defeated the Mentor Cardinals 26-20 in triple overtime in 2022.
The first two of those games were part of the Cleveland Browns’ High School Football Charity Game. Construction on Brownsn Stadium began in May 1997 when it was announced that the Cleveland Browns were making a comeback to the city in 1999. It officially opened on September 12, 1999, when the Browns hosted the Pittsburgh Steelers.
The stadium is a natural concrete and glass structure, using precast and concrete for the upper concourse structure. The construction of the base and structure took more than 6,000 truckloads of concrete. The playing surface is Kentucky Bluegrass.Â
Cleveland Browns Stadium also played host to the 2022-23 OHSAA Regional Hockey Tournament, where the Wildcats defeated Benedictine.Â
