Smith can also contribute offensively to the Wildcats. Young was a natural-born leader, and it was only right that he would be named a Team Captain for the Wildcats in 2024.Â
Young was a team-first athlete for the Wildcats, beginning his senior season at right guard but moving to right tackle. Young created massive holes for his backs in Grant Washington and Owen Colwell.
When his high school career came to a close, Young would total 23 starts. The team would name Young a recipient of the Marty Eynon Award for Work and Sacrifice and the Fr. Robert Welsh S.J '54 and Charles Kyle '69 award for Ignatian Legacy and Tradition.
Young will continue his football career at Duquesne, a Division I FCS program, located along the Allegheny.Â
The Dukes will open the 2025 season at Acrisure Stadium, home of the Pittsburgh Steelers when they face the Pittsburgh Panthers.
Congratulations to all of our signees committing to elevate their game to the next level. They have truly left their mark at Saint Ignatius High School and will forever be Ignatius Men Forever.Â
