Cam Joyce was brought in as the director of youth programming as well as Head Basketball Coach in 2019.

Joyce became the 24th head basketball coach in school history on May 23, 2019. Previous to Saint Ignatius, Joyce served as the director of operations for the men’s basketball program at Ohio University. Joyce managed all day-to-day operations for the Bobcats, organized team and youth camps, and served as academic coordinator for student-athletes. Before working in Athens, Joyce worked as an assistant video coordinator for the University of Florida men’s basketball team, an assistant coach at Northwood University, and a graduate assistant at Tiffin University.

Joyce was a four-year letter winner with St. Vincent-St. Mary, averaging 13 points and seven assists per game in his senior year for his father, Dru. Joyce led the Basketball Cats to their first State Championship since the 2000-01 season in 2024.

In his role as director of youth programming, Joyce manages youth camps, on-campus events, and scheduling of several athletic facilities.

Joyce brings a wealth of experience to the Saint Ignatius basketball program. Most recently, he served as the Director of Operations for the men’s basketball program at Ohio University. In that role, Joyce managed all day-to-day operations for the Bobcats, including team travel, practice schedules, two graduate assistant coaches, as well as team and youth camps.

Before starting his coaching career, Joyce enjoyed a solid career as a player. He played for his father, Dru Joyce II, helping to lead St. Vincent-St. Mary to three District Championships, one Regional Championship, and an OHSAA State Semifinal appearance. After a year at the Patterson Prep School in North Carolina, Joyce headed to Kent State University. He transferred to Northwood after a year and a half at Kent State. Joyce played for three years for the Timberwolves, a Division II program, serving as captain for all three seasons. He finished his career with the second-most career assists in Northwood history, earning Second Team All-Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference honors in 2011-12.

Joyce is the first African-American head basketball coach in school history. Joyce is the 24th head coach in the 119-year history of Saint Ignatius basketball. The Wildcats have a 1,432-697 record all-time, having won 29 District Championships, 7 Regional Championships, and 2 State Championships.

During his first season in 2019-20, Joyce led the Wildcats to a 15-9 record and a District Semifinal appearance. In his second season, Joyce led the Wildcats to their first Regional Championship since 2001 as the Cats finished the 2020-21 season 19-7. In 2022, the Cats got back to the Final Four. Joyce would win his first OHSAA State Championship in 2024, eclipsing a program record 26 wins in one season.

Joyce's 100th career victory came on December 14, 2024 when the Wildcats defeated Lane Tech (IL) 64-40 in the DC Classic. He now has an all-time record of 118-44.

On April 15, 2025, Joyce announced he accepted a position at Loyola High School in Los Angeles, California.
