Bob Wolf graduated from Saint Ignatius High School in 2008. Wolf was a member of the Cross Country and Track & Field program as a student-athlete with the Wildcats.

He attended Kenyon College, where he graduated with a Bachelor of the Arts in Biology in 2012.

He was hired by Saint Ignatius High School in 2014 as a teacher in the science department. Since coming back to his Alma Mater, Michael "Doc" Gallagher '71 named Wolf an assistant coach for the Cross Country program. Wolf was also the head coach for the freshman cross-country program.

Wolf competed in sprints and relays during his time at Kenyon College. Wolf is a technique coach; he is all about running efficiency to get the best results out of his student-athletes.

On February 26, 2021, Saint Ignatius High School named Wolf the next Head Cross Country Coach after Doc Gallagher retired in the fall of 2020. Wolf was also named Head Track and Field Coach for 2023 after the retirement of Chuck Kyle '69.

In 2025, Wolf helped lead the Wildcats to have their first individual State Champion in nine years as Maxwell Friedrich won the 3200m event with a time of 8:57.74 (a program record). Wolf has guided multiple Wildcat athletes to break program records, as along with the 3200m record, Friedrich owns the 5000m record. Damon Frabotta owns the record in the 300m hurdles with a time of 37.84. Wolf would also help guide the 2023 relay team to achieve a record in the 400m and 800m relay.
