Strength & Conditioning Center and Restifo Commons
Hard work makes champions, especially in high school sports.
Thanks to the generosity of the Panteck family, the renovated Saint Ignatius Strength & Conditioning Center was dedicated in 2015, giving the Wildcats the perfect place to train.Â
The facility doubles the size of the old space and includes new weight equipment for students to use. Open to both students and student-athletes, it provides a safe environment for the Wildcats to train and stay in shape under the full-time direction of a strength and conditioning coach.Â
The strength and conditioning program is led by coach AJ Short '09.Â
The new center also includes the Nick Restifo Hon. '19 Commons, named in honor of current Spanish teacher and former long-time Assistant Football Coach Nick Restifo. Restifo has been a member of the Saint Ignatius community since 1981, helping to guide the Wildcats to multiple State and National football Championships throughout his career.Â
At Saint Ignatius, a hallmark of Jesuit education is that students emerge with intellectual competence, openness to growth, religion, love, and commitment to work for peace and justice. This mission is now more evident in the Strength and Conditioning Center, where athletes train, as in 2021 a mural was painted by Joseph Richmond ’21 in the facility that echoes the mission of Saint Ignatius.Â
