COLUMBUS, OH - The Blue and Gold would be represented well in Columbus on Friday and Saturday at Jesse Owens Memorial Stadium. Saint Ignatius would qualify in the following events: 4x800m relay, 800m, 3200m, and discus.

Ronan Donnelly, Maxwell Friedrich, Jack Sheppard, and Greg Friel would kick off the weekend on Friday in the 4x800m relay. The Cats would place sixth in the state with a time of 7:43.95.

On Saturday, sophomore James Conrad opened the day for the Wildcats in the Discus throw. His best throw, 174'10", earned him fourth-place honors.

The second-to-last event of the State Meet featured the 3200m run, in which Maxwell Friedrich competed. The junior put his name in the record books for the Wildcats, running an 8:57.74, a new program record, and breaking C.J. Abrosio's '17 nine-year record of 9:01.78. Friedrich would place first by almost three minutes and is the Wildcats' first individual State Champion since 2016.

Overall, the Wildcats placed sixth at the State Meet, earning 20 points from their events. It was an exceptional year for Saint Ignatius Track and Field, with multiple Wildcats returning next season for Head Track and Field Coach Bob Wolf '08.
