The Varsity Blue Golf Cats clinched third place at the Kiely Cup held at Canterbury Golf Club on Sunday, September 8-9. The Kiely Cup is a benchmark for the OHSAA State Tournament that features teams such as Archbishop Alter, Upper Arlington, University School, Archbishop Hoban, and St. Xavier.
The student-athletes featured for the Blue Squad were
Patrick Myers,
Ethan White,
Fitch Farina,
Alex Stiegele, and
Kyle Malicki, who delivered exceptional scores, contributing significantly to the team's success.
Ethan White emerged as the standout performer on the first day with a notable score of 74, leading the Wildcats with his precision and skill. On the second day,
Kyle Malicki took the forefront with a score of 75, demonstrating his prowess and consistency.
The individuals' scores reflected a well-rounded team effort:
Patrick Myers and
Kyle Malicki both scored a two-day total of 161, while
Ethan White led the team with 151.
Fitch Farina added a solid 158, and
Alex Stiegele rounded out the team's performance with 162.
The Wildcats finished with a team score of 622, good enough for third place. Alter took first place with a team score of 615, and Upper Arlington took second place with a score of 619.Â
Looking ahead, the Wildcats are set to participate in the Nolan Belden Invitational at Brookside Country Club on September 16. Four events remain on the schedule for the Wildcats as they prepare for the OHSAA Tournament that will begin on Monday, September 30, at Quail Hollow.Â
