CLEVELAND, OH—Saint Ignatius High School announces that Head Basketball Coach and Director of Youth Programming Cam Joyce has accepted a new role as head coach at Loyola High School in Los Angeles, California.

Coach Cam was hired at Saint Ignatius in May 2019, and during his six remarkable seasons at Saint Ignatius, elevated the program to notable excellence and an annual contender for the state title.  Under Coach Cam's leadership, the Wildcats amassed an impressive 118-44 overall record. They earned five District Championships, four Regional Championships, and the school's first State Championship (2024) in over 23 years. 18 of his players went on to pursue their dreams and play college hoops. 

A 2007 graduate of St. Vincent-St. Mary High School and the 24th head coach in Saint Ignatius basketball history, Joyce took the reins on May 23, 2019. In addition to his coaching duties, he served as the Director of Youth Programming, impacting students on and off the court.

"We are incredibly grateful for Coach Joyce's leadership, vision, and how he has led our basketball program for the past six years," said Athletic Director Rory Fitzpatrick '88. "His impact extends far beyond the win column—he helped shape young men of faith, character, and purpose."

Joyce now joins Loyola High School, a fellow Jesuit institution located just ten minutes outside downtown Los Angeles, competing in the highly regarded Mission League.

"I'm excited about the new opportunity. Being a Jesuit school, Loyola, was the most appealing part of the job. I've had tremendous experiences at Saint Ignatius these last six years," explains Joyce. "A pivotal point in my decision was that Loyola is a Jesuit school. The missions of both schools tie in the faith, and that's important and something I value."
